Kamihimo is a Japanese craft in which paper strasps are woven and glued together. Hence the name “kami” (=paper) “himo” (=cord). Due to its robustness and tear resistance, it was mostly used to tie parcels together. Today, the craft is enjoying increasing popularity in the handicraft sector, as the paper ribbons can be used to weave decorative and useful objects. One Kamihimo strap consists of 10 paper cords glued together. If necessary, these can be separated with a cutter and thus applied in different widths. The straps can be attached with the help of the craft glue.
